Art Classes for adults

Four ways in. Pick the one that fits

A studio in Garbutt where grown-ups can paint, throw clay, print, sketch, learn — or just sit and make alongside other people doing the same. No experience required. Lots of mess encouraged.

WHY ADULT CLASSES

HI, IM KELLIE

I run Creativity Hood. You might know us for our kids classes — that's been our bread and butter for years. But the adults in our community kept asking what about us?, and they had a fair point.

So we built something for you too.

Whether you've been making art forever or you haven't picked up a brush since high school, there's a way in here. No judgment. No pressure to produce a masterpiece. No "right way" to do this. Just space to make stuff, on your terms, with people who get it.

Below are the four ways you can join us.

Bring your own project. Make alongside others.

GIGGLE PALETTE CLUB

This one's for artists who already have something on the go — a painting, a sketchbook, a craft project, a slow-burn ceramic thing — and just want somewhere to work on it.

It's parallel play.

You bring your own materials and your own pace. We provide the big table, the kettle, and the company. Chat if you want. Headphones in if you don't.

That's pretty much it.

Membership gets you in every week for $20 on tuesday evenings. If you can't commit, casual drops are $30 a session — pay as you go.

Best for: makers who work better around other makers.

8-week art medium deep-dives. Thursdays, 9:00–10:30 AM.

Art School for adults

A guided class that runs in 8-week blocks. Each block focuses on one medium so you actually build skill, instead of sampling something different every week and forgetting it.

What's coming up:

  • Now: Watercolour

  • Next: Clay (materials and firing costs aren't included in the class fee — we'll let you know what to budget for before the block starts)

  • Then: Screen printing

  • After that: TBD — tell us what you'd love to try and we'll listen

  •

You can join at the start of any new block. We don't run drop-ins for this one — it builds week to week.

Pricing: $39.50 per week (free trial on offer)

Best for: people who want structure, technique, and a chance to actually get good at something.

$90/hour. Basic materials included. Schedule built around you.

One-on-One Tutoring

Got something specific you want to learn?

Working on a body of work and want feedback? Prepping for an exhibition, a portfolio, or just a personal project that matters to you? Perhaps you want to gain confidence before joining a group?

1:1 tutoring is built entirely around what you're trying to do. We'll work out a schedule that fits your life — mornings, evenings, weekly, fortnightly, an intensive run before a deadline. Whatever works

.

Pricing: $90/hour. Basic materials included. Specialty supplies discussed up front.

Best for: focused goals, specific skills, or anyone who learns better one-on-one.

Stand-alone sessions. Try something new.

ONE-OFF WORKSHOPS

Stand-alone sessions on a specific skill, technique, or theme. New ones drop throughout the year — sometimes seasonal, sometimes a guest artist, sometimes whatever we're curious about that month.

Great if you want to dip your toe in, try something new, or come along with a mate.

Pricing: Varies by workshop — enquire for upcoming dates and details.

Bring your people. We'll set up the rest!

Art School for adults

Bring a group, pick a painting, we sort the rest. Custom designs available — birthdays, hens nights, work team things, mum-friend catch-ups, just-because evenings.

Wine and snacks welcome (you bring those — we'll provide easels, paint, canvas, and someone to walk everyone through it).

Pricing: Depends on group size and design — enquire for a quote.
