This term, our young artists will focus on bringing characters to life through fun and expressive cartoon drawing. They’ll master the foundations of drawing people and animals, then explore how to tell stories through their art.

🎨 Cartoon Drawing – People and Animals (Ages 9–11)

🌟 Students will complete 3 creative projects:

✏️ Cartoon Drawing Skills Series – Learn to draw faces, eyes, hands, lips, hair, and add depth through shading.

📖 Comic Book / Zine Creation – Design and illustrate your own short comic or zine.

🎨 Watercolour Character Artwork – Add colour, layers, and texture to create a finished cartoon-inspired piece.

Each week combines skill-building with imaginative storytelling — helping students develop their technique, confidence, and unique style.

Do you have cats?

YES! We have two house cats that live with one of our teachers, and like to come visit the students.

Is is drop and go?

Yes, as long as you have signed the consent form.

Can we stay?

Yes we have a parents room, with colouring in books and good vibes.

What is the cost?

We charge $250 for the term or $35 for a casual session.

I had to create a sustainable business that not only made money but allowed me to thrive.

3 reasons why I stopped doing it all alone:)
1) resentfulness for having to do too much
2) loneliness- the ethos that makes us special is that feeling of belonging, that extends to myself and my staff feel like they belong.
3) Burn out- I wanted the studio to beat the odds and continue operating beyond the typical 2 year mark.

7 Things I’ve Learnt About Teaching Kids to Be Better Artists 🎨✨
1. Kids are like sponges.
Giving them inspiration through other artists, pictures, and task samples helps them visualise what’s possible and sparks their imagination.
2. Focus on one skill at a time.
If we’re learning about tone and light with charcoal, I’ll often let them trace the image. Why? Because if they’re trying to learn both drawing and charcoal at once, the real focus—tone and light—can get lost. Breaking things down allows them to stay focused, succeed, and not feel overwhelmed.
3. Balance skill with self-exploration.
I love designing lessons that introduce a specific skill (like line or pattern) but still leave room for kids to add their own creativity and design choices. It makes the skill more meaningful.
4. Make content fun and relatable.
I keep up with Pinterest trends, movies, games, and whatever kids are into right now. Stepping into their world helps them connect with the art in a way that feels exciting and relevant.
5. Model the process.
Live demonstrations are a must. I’ll show my process step by step while speaking my thoughts out loud, so kids can see not only what I do, but why I do it.
6. Teach material care with stories.
I personify brushes, pencils, and paints with little “love stories” (like the brush who dried out because it wasn’t cared for properly!). These silly stories stick in kids’ minds and help them respect their tools.
7. Gamify the lessons.
I add challenges, competitions, and a healthy dose of silliness. I’ll name my artworks, personify tools, and turn learning into a playful game—because when kids are having fun, the learning naturally sticks.

Let them! Let them be, let them make mistakes, let them change the lesson, let them feel overwhelmed and learn to self soothe:) and let me, be impact, make mistakes, be late on my invoices :) #letthem

A couple of adorable snaps from our Thursday and Friday clay classes this week 😊
It’s been tricky to grab photos lately because we’ve been deep in some serious skill-building workshops that need lots of focus and 1:1 modelling time.

The kids have been exploring pinch pots and discovering how connecting two together can create a mouldable base for any woodland creature (or whatever their imaginations dream up!). Most students got their glazes on this week, and we’ll be finishing them up next week.

Exciting times ahead — can’t wait to see them come out of the kiln!

I had this vision in my head—so vivid and clear. A studio sign that captured everything I love about art and everything I want my students to feel. Inspired by the incredible work of @candela.colors, I reached out and asked if she could help bring it to life. There was a little voice inside me nudging, take the risk, invest in making Creativity Hood feel real—feel legit.

And honestly, the impact has been tenfold.

Now, when I walk into the studio, it’s not just a space I created—it’s a space shaped by every person who’s ever raised their hand and said, I want to be part of this.
